The company recently secured nearly $19 million in Series A funding, bringing its total capital raised to almost $34 million. The round attracted both new and returning backers, including Natural Ventures, Burnt Island Ventures, Ulu Ventures, MFV Partners, Tamiami, and Sum Ventures. This funding will fuel product development, expand operations, and enhance the customer experience.

Irrigreen is on a fast track to national expansion, growing its installer network across the U.S. while doubling down on R&D. The startup’s standout innovation is a robotic sprinkler head that can replace up to eight traditional sprinkler heads by using real-time weather data and digital lawn mapping. This system waters only where and when it’s needed—no more overspray onto driveways or sidewalks.
Homeowners can now also benefit from an AI-powered quoting tool that uses satellite imagery to analyze lawn areas and generate customized irrigation layouts. By simply entering an address, users can view their expected water savings, making what was once a complex decision into a seamless digital experience.
The Founders and Their Vision
Founded in 2014 by Shane Dyer and Gary Klinefelter, Irrigreen was born from a simple household frustration. Gary’s wife pointed out how inefficient their old sprinkler system was—watering concrete as much as grass. With a background in inkjet printing and over 35 patents in spray technology, Gary used his expertise to prototype a smarter alternative.
Shane, a veteran in smart home technology and the former founder of IoT platform Arrayent, saw a massive opportunity in marrying robotics with sustainable water use. Together, they created a solution to one of the biggest inefficiencies in home water usage.

Irrigreen’s latest upgrade, the Smart Controller 3, recently received the 2025 Green GOOD DESIGN Sustainability Award. The controller enhances automation, provides detailed water usage insights, and integrates with existing smart home systems—all accessible via a mobile app.

With over 300 installation partners nationwide, Irrigreen is rapidly scaling. The fresh funding will support continued innovation and educational efforts to show homeowners how smarter irrigation can lead to real savings—both financial and environmental.
Looking forward, the company plans to further enhance its AI features and roll out more smart landscaping solutions. By cutting outdoor water use by up to 50%, Irrigreen proves that sustainable tech doesn’t have to be complicated or expensive.
